Ways of being

The piano piece in this diptych incorporates some functions of Make Noise's 0-Cntl sequencer, namely the ability to vary the duration between two pulses and the direction of the sequence (in a loop or back and forth).

In the painting, the distance between the trees is transposed into beats (quarter notes, eighth notes and whole notes) whose arrangement composes the rhythm. The characters assign the direction of reading: the couple on the left facing right calls for a looping melody while the one facing each other creates a mirror sequence that reverses when reaching the largest tree.
